And hello 6.5 pounds gained on vacation! LOL
That's okay - FIRM and Weight Watchers will get me back on track!
So I am dealing with my weight gain by following the FIRM 4-Day Kick Start program that came with FIRM express.
It's a 1000 calorie/day diet (but you can add up to 200 calories per day if you're very hungry or weak) and two workouts per day (with the option of a bonus 10 minute workout).
Until today, I have only seen my FIRM express DVD's in the box. Before Christmas I had pulled my shoulder, and twisted my knee and I wasn't up for working out much. I did maintain my weight okay, despite my lethargy, but going away on vacation messed me up good.
We drove cross country New York to San Diego and I ate like I was on vacation. Eating out for every meal, and sitting in the car anywhere from 6-8 hours per day means the calories creep up. And to boot, I was eating a lot of junk - sugar, salty food, fried food, etc... So I am very likely very bloated.
And the alcohol! Don't forget the alcohol!
So I decided to start the FIRM kick start program today. I woke up 5 AM and put in the two workouts.
I nearly threw up by the last few minutes of the second one! Man, three weeks of no exercise really caught up with me!
But, oh my oh, do these workouts work! I burned 188 calories for one, and 198 for the other. That's nearly 400 calories for 40 minutes of work.
Needless to say I didn't do the 10 minute add on - usually when I feel like throwing up, I take that as a sign that my body is done, finished.
But I loved it! And it's only 1:40 and I can feel my thighs! Ouch!
I'm looking forward to tomorrow morning for sure!
The food on the plan is good too:
Breakfast was a veggie omelet - one egg, two whites, broccoli, tomato, served with a slice of toast and an orange (the original plan calls for half a grapefruit, but I've never learned to like the taste...)
Snacks are almonds and an apple
Lunch was a salad made with baby spinach, cucumber, red bell pepper, and grilled chicken dressed with olive oil and lemon juice. Served with some melba toast on the side.
Dinner is salmon with lemon and dill, string beans and brown rice.
YUM!
So I have no resolutions this year. Just to keep doing what I'm doing. Take care of myself, be healthy, all that jazz.
So here's to 2011... I hope this year is a good one for all :)
