What up WW peeps?
This week's meeting topic is all about staying the course, and I love the image they use on the website for this article it's a sailboat. Check it out here:

I'm going to tell you a little story about a girl (me) and a boy (my husband). They decided to buy a boat. Neither the girl, nor the boy, had any experience boating whatsoever. None. We didn't grow up on or around boats other than the occasional ferry ride across the Great South Bay.
The girl and the boy knew they didn't want to die out there on the water so they took a Coast Guard class and they hired a captain to give them a couple of private lessons. One lesson was on maneuvering and handling. The other was on navigation. And it's the lesson Cap't Bob taught us about navigation that makes a superb analogy to our Weight Watchers journey.
Cap't Bob taught how to read nautical charts, and how to plot a course. He taught us how to use our compass to navigate the waters. And then he told us this "Use your compass to point you in the right direction, and then stop looking at it. Look to the horizon. Find the point on the horizon that your headed for and keep your eyes there. The wind is going to shift your course, the current is going to shift your course. And if you only look at your compass, you'll find yourself making so many small corrections that you'll eventually end up going off course. Look to where you're going, make adjustments when you need to, and that's how you'll get there."
That Cap't Bob was a smart cookie.
In Weight Watchers, the scale is our compass. It's there to give you a heading and guide you, but once you have that number, look away. Keep your eyes on your goal, your destination. Look to the horizon and keep your focus there. If you keep looking at the scale, you're going to go off course. Look to where you want to be.
They don't call it "Beyond the Scale" for nothing.
I've been slacking in the fitness department, so I won't be posting a Friday Fitness anytime soon. But I'll try to be back on Monday.
