Monday Weigh In/Weekend Confessional: House Warming & House Cleaning Edition

Whew! Another Monday is here, so let's get down to business...

Last week: 130.4
This week: 130.7
Difference: + 0.3
Maintenance: Well, let's just say I don't plan on maintaining this any longer. I will be actively working to get back to my preferred weight of 124.

So I've been spiraling out of control - more and more since January. I've posted a lot about this on connect and I've gotten a lot of great supportive comments from the community (LOVE Connect!). But I've still been in a funk when it comes to being a Weight Watcher.

I haven't been tracking. I haven't been exercising. And I haven't been making good choices at all.

So last week I decided to do something I haven't done in forever. Track.

Well, since January I've started tracking again every Monday. But usually by Tuesday or Wednesday I've eaten something that was ridiculous in points (eh hem, eh hem, Frappuccino) and given up the tracking because I didn't want to see the truth.

But that's not helpful. So last week, I started tracking. Only this time, I kept on tracking. I tracked my binging out of control week. And I ended the week at... wait for it... -182 SmartPoints.

Yes, you read that right. Wow. Well, there's your problem. I've been eating like that for a while. It's no wonder I've gained six pounds. It is a wonder I haven't gained back more!

So this week I am promising myself that I am worth it to make a change. I am worth it to put myself first again. I am worth it to stay focused on my health.

What changed this time? I'm not sure. But I will share with you something that helped...

You know him on Connect - he's got alike a gazillion followers. And he's recently started a podcast. You can find it in Google Play or iTunes. It's called "Whys Advice" (Get it? Wise Advice? Finding your Why? Lol. I love a good pun!)

This podcast is like a mini-meeting that I listen to in my car each morning. And something this morning just clicked with me. Like, yeah, I can do this! I can get re-focused. I don't remember if it was something specific he said or if it was just listening to a few episodes in a row to catch up from the weekend (I listen to all my podcasts on my commute so I miss weekend episodes). But something about listening to that show flipped the switch back on in my brain. So check it out. I think you'll find it's definitely worth your time.

And with that all out of the way it's time to go on to my Weekend Confession:

Bless Me Jean Nidetch for I have gone off program!

Like I said, it was a bad week overall, but I'll just focus on the worst offender - the weekend.

Saturday started well. Had my usual oatmeal and then for lunch a grilled cheese sandwich with tomato soup! Yum! I was well on my way to having a great on-program day. After lunch we went to the local farm for their Baby Animal Day (had so much fun!). Then, starving, we went back to my friends house to celebrate their house warming. My friend proceeded to put out a bowl of potato chips. And while potato chips are not usually my WW nemesis, I was starving. And so I proceeded to eat a ton of them. Then she put out Mike's Hard Lemonade. I had three to the tune of 32 SmartPoints. Then there were hot dogs, hamburgers, roasted potatoes, corn, salad... the usual BBQ deliciousness. I sampled them ALL. At the end of the day, Saturday, I had eaten 100 points. In one day. Wowza.

Then Sunday happened. My daughter came down with a stomach virus. So between taking care of her and doing a million loads of laundry I just ate whatever was there (candy, chocolate, macaroni and cheese for lunch - the whole box...). Then when I went food shopping where I bought a cup of mini Nutter Butter cookies and ate the whole thing. I mean, honestly, who opens a snack pack and eats 1/3 of it? Servings per container: 3? Puh-lease. Then for dinner it was too hectic to cook so we sliced up a baguette and smeared it with butter, and shared a bottle of wine. Yeah. It was that kind of day.

I'm still exhausted from being up all night with a vomiting child, but feeling more committed than I have in a while. I hope this feeling sticks with me this week. I have a good feeling that it will.

Thanks for reading.
